Should Christians Use AI to Pray?

Yes, many Christians use AI to find words for prayer, as long as the prayer is addressed to God and not to the AI. Scripture says God knows what you need before you ask (Matthew 6:8). Treat AI as a writing aid, check every verse it quotes, and keep praying in your own words too.
What Scripture says about prayer
Matthew 6:7-8 (BSB): "And when you pray, do not babble on like pagans, for they think that by their many words they will be heard. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him."
Romans 8:26 (BSB): "In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words."
Both passages point the same way. Prayer is not about finding perfect words, and not knowing what to say is a normal place to start.
Where AI can help
When you are tired, grieving or anxious, a blank page is hard. Describe the situation in a sentence and an AI can write a short prayer you can read slowly, change or pray as it is. In PrayAI you pick one of eight prayer types, from anxiety and peace to work or study, and get a prayer of about 100 to 200 words.
It can also help you pray for someone else when you do not know how to put it, or give you a starting point at 2 a.m. when nobody else is awake.
Where it falls short
It can misquote a verse or cite one that does not exist. Look up every reference in your own Bible before you pray it or share it.
It does not know your church's tradition unless you say so, and it does not know you the way your church family does.
It is not a pastor, a counselor or a doctor. For grief, abuse or thoughts of self-harm, talk to a person. In the US you can call or text 988.
Keep private details about other people out of it, like a friend's diagnosis, that you would not want stored by a tech company.
A simple way to use it well
1. Say the prayer to God. Read the AI's words as your own, slowly, and change anything that does not sound like you.
2. Check the Scripture it points to.
3. Add a sentence in your own words, even a short one.
4. Bring what you are praying about to your church or a friend you trust.
If a prayer written by AI feels empty to you, that is a fair reason to stop using it. If it helps you start praying when you could not, it has done its job.
